Join us to discuss trending solutions in the field of urban logistics, and the need to explore the sector which otherwise is neglected compared to passenger transport. The EcoLogistics Project has conducted studies in nine cities in Argentina, Colombia and India. Local government representatives will discuss the baseline status from these nine cities.
In this special edition of our bi-monthly newsletter, we are thrilled to launch the #EcoLogisticsPrinciples and would like to warmly encourage you to support this campaign. We are also happy to announce that our new website is up and running! Check us out at sustainablemobility.iclei.org.
In the meantime, I was transitioning out of my role and made an international house moving from Germany to Taiwan. Taoyuan City invited 34 key logistics companies and organizations to the “Future of City Logistics: Green, Smart, and Shared” workshop on 11 August 2020, such as IKEA Taiwan, Evergreen Logistics, Taoyuan International Airport, MOMO e-commerce company, T-Cat delivery. The goal of the stakeholder exchange is to gain insights into the innovations from the different private companies and the sharing of knowledge and ideas for the Taoyuan City Government.
The logistics industry is one of the main economic activities of Taoyuan City, being the hub housing the international airport and various logistics and industrial zones. Despite its importance, management of logistics has been sporadic or driven by the national government, resulting in inconsistent strategies and approaches to logistics. Under the EcoLogistics Community, Taoyuan City seeks to enhance stakeholder collaboration to gather opinions, thoughts, and strategies through a workshop series of the Strategy Mapping and Implementation Protocol, developed by ICLEI together with Sue Zielinski, the former Director of the SMART Center, University of Michigan.
